Search engine optimization - SEO - helps our pages to show higher up in search results. SEO involves both on-page and off-page actions (such as creating external links pointing to our Web page). In this article, the focus is on the on-page actions.
On-Page SEO
Identify the search terms searchers use: Your first action should be to identify the particular words and phrases Web searchers use to look for your topic. These words and phrases are known as “keywords” and you have to optimize each page for one or two keywords.

Just in case you don’t know what exactly RSS is, here is a short note:
- RSS is a way to distribute your Web content to its consumers
- You do this by offering an option to interested readers to subscribe to your regularly updated content
- The subscription option is offered by creating an RSS button at your website, and by distributing your RSS feed to feed directories. Interested readers can then click the button or feed link.
- There are a large number of RSS feed directories to which you can submit your feed, and then ping them every time your content is updated and added to the feed
- Unlike emails (that is also a way to distribute updated content) there will be no spam complaints because only readers who subscribe to the feed get the content
- If you have good content that will interest many readers, creating an RSS feed and distributing it is an excellent way to get these readers visit your site every time you add content
RSS thus has the potential to generate traffic to your website.

Forum Posts and Web Traffic
Forums typically allow members to create a signature, i.e. a short profile about you. You can tell people what you do, and include a link to your website in this signature file. Some forums might even allow multiple links. Read the rest of this entry »

The blogger community thrives on conversations. Most blogs allow readers to comment on their blog posts. They also allow you to put a link to your website URL somewhere. In addition to back links, blog comments can also show you off as a friendly person or even an expert.
Some blogs might add a no follow attribute to the links in blog comments. However, if the content of the comment is good, readers are quite likely to follow your link and land at your site. That means traffic.
